Our theme reflects the critical role that science, together with education, has in creating
Australia’s future. It will be explored through three strands that will run throughout the conference:

•Cutting Edge Science
•Current Science Education Research
•Thinking and Working Scientifically in our classrooms


The program contains an exciting set of keynotes, an extensive range of workshops, excursions to
local laboratories, the Art Gallery and the Botanic Gardens, a high quality trade display and a variety
of social events. The Keynote Speakers include Professor Hugh Possingham, Dr Tanya Monro and an
exciting development is that astronaut Dr. Andy Thomas has indicated his willingness to keynote the
Conference. Specific two-day Primary and Lab Technician Programs are also features of the
general program.
